The film stars Fardeen Khan, Genelia D'Souza, Tusshar Kapoor and Prachi Desai and tells a story of contemporary couples. Katrina was asked to do a cameo appearance opposite Govinda who is the only actor in the film without a heroine opposite him.

It seems like director Rumi Jaffrey jumped the gun and expected Katrina to take on the role since she had played a full fledged romantic role opposite Govinda in " Life Partner," and thought she would be excited to do the cameo. But alas, Katrina said she just doesn't have any time to spare for the appearance.

It wasn't a film that she was busy with. She is in London for her birthday and family reunion. The whole family is going to take a vacation together soon after. The director says they couldn't wait for Katrina because that would mean they'd have to delay the wrap up shoot since most of the movie has already been shot.

The producers Abbas-Mastan want to release the film in August without delay, so Katrina was no longer considered for the part. Instead they have gotten Amrita Rao for the film, who has been getting a lot of attention for her new sexy look.

Miami Fashion Week hits runways Wednesday, July 15 2009 through Sunday, July 19 at the Raleigh Hotel as Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim. This is the fifth year of swimwear shows which takes place in the hot sunny city with its biggest swimwear lineup.

Five days in the row the runways present the sexiest models and designs.

Boutique owners and glossy magazine editors, department store buyers are invited to the show. They are those who have already attended the huge, annual trade show by the Swimwear Association of Florida at the Miami Beach Convention Center.

With all the editors in town,’’ said Miami Beach swimwear designer Red Carter, ‘‘you have a message and you are making a statement [at the shows]. I think there’s nothing like it.’’

The number of designers who make shows grew to 19 this year, up from 15 in 2008.

This is the biggest season we’ve had in five years,’’ said senior director of fashion and events for IMG’s fashion division Christina Neault .

High Court order probe into Sushmita Sen’s remarks on chastity

The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court today directed a judicial magistrate to inquire into a complaint filed against Sushmita Sen for allegedly making “obscene and derogatory comments” on chastity in October 2006.

Setting aside a lower court order dismissing a complaint by an advocate seeking police action against Sen, a former Miss Universe, Justice A Selvam directed that the inquiry be held for offences under various sections of Indecent Representation of Women Act 1986 and Young Persons (Harmful Publications) Act 1856 among others.

The judge rejected the contention that there was no basic material for the allegations made against the 33-year-old actress.

The petitioner, S Greesh Kumar, had alleged that Sen’s comments aired by all prominent English news channels on Oct 6, 2006 and also carried by a Tamil daily, had “degraded” the moral fabric of India.

The Jackson family will hold a private service at Forest Lawn before proceeding to Staples Center for the public service. Details of the Staples Center service, which was to begin at 10 a.m., were still emerging this morning.

LAPD Chief William J. Bratton said today Michael Jackson's body will be at Staples Center. It was unclear how his body would get from Forest Lawn to Staples.

At around 7 a.m., fans wearing gold and silver wristbands began streaming into an area around Staples Center that had been cordoned off by Los Angeles police. Approximately 17,500 tickets and wristbands to the event were distributed Monday through an online lottery system.

Those wearing gold wristbands were told that they would watch the event live in Staples Center; those with silver bands will watch a simulcast from the nearby Nokia Theatre.

Early this morning, sisters Yady Arreola, 24, and Lisa Acevedo, 19, held up their arms with their gold wristbands attached. The pair said they had been waiting since 1 a.m. Wearing matching white T-shirts that read "Forever Our King" next to an image of Jackson dancing, the women passed the time listening to Jackson's music in a parking lot with other fans who showed up early.

Acevedo called the chance to attend Jackson's memorial service "an experience ... I'm only going to be able to have once in a lifetime."

A clearly disappointed Erik Gomez, 18, received a silver wristband, sending him to Nokia Theatre. Gomez, dressed Jackson-like in tight pants, a black vest over a white shirt and gray fedora, said that he had picked up his tickets later in the day--which may have sealed his fate as one of the 6,500 people who would be watching the event on a simulcast from Nokia.

"If you arrived early at Dodger Stadium you got the gold wristband. If you got there late you got the silver one." "I'm OK," said the Lancaster resident, not sounding it at all. "I'm just happy to be one of the 17,000 picked. But I'm a little bit sad."

At an early morning briefing, top Los Angeles Police Department brass unveiled what they called an unprecedented response plan for Michael Jackson's funeral. LAPD Deputy Chief Earl Paysinger addressed several hundred supervisors at a 3 a.m. briefing in the gym of the Los Angeles Fire Academy.

He said deployment for past events, including the 1984 Olympics, "pale in comparison to what we have assembled today."

Some 3,200 officers are expected to be deployed during the memorials. He told them that with 1 billion people expected to watch the public memorial, "literally, the eyes of the entire world will be on this place."

Bratton also said today the department will move quickly to release officers from memorial-related duties if things go smoothly. A large part of that will depend on the size of the crowds.

"We really don't know what the size of the crowd will be," Bratton said. Planners prepared for the possibility of up to 1 million people, especially if the memorial was held at a large outdoor venue like the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. But a smaller, more restricted space like Staples, which will have limited access, could discourage crowds.

Still, the cost of policing the event, which will have the largest police deployment since the 1984 Olympics, could reach several million dollars. Bratton said he would like to reduce those costs as much as possible and one way was with a quick demobilization.

"This is not Monopoly money. These are real dollars," said Asst. Chief Earl Paysinger. "We evaluate the activity at the scene and try to make a smart decision as to whether or not we should keep officers on duty. We will begin to release them as the situation requires."

On Tuesday, the City of Los Angeles posted a plea on its website to Jackson fans, asking them to "help the City of Angels provide the extraordinary public safety resources required to give Michael the safe, orderly and respectful memorial he deserves."

It offers people the chance to help defray city costs for the service, using PayPal, saying that all donations are tax-deductible.

The reigning queen of pop paid her respects to the late King of Pop Saturday night with a musical tribute to the star.

Madonna performed at the O2 in London, the same arena where Michael Jackson was set to stage his This Is It! series of concerts beginning July 13.

As Madonna sang "Holiday" during this stop on her Sticky and Sweet tour, a Jackson impersonator took the stage, sporting a sequin-embellished jacket, white glove, white socks and a white T-shirt. An image of a young Jackson was projected in the background.

The impersonator then moonwalked to Jackson's "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'."

After Madonna shouted, "Let's give it up for one of the greatest artists the world has ever known," she and her dancers donned jeweled gloves on their right hands to honor Jackson in their last dance.

Michael Jackson Leaves Behind Two Unfinished Albums

The world may never have the chance to hear the music Michael Jackson was working on at the time of his death, but at least we get to hear about it.

Jackson collaborators spoke to Billboard about two very different albums the King of Pop was developing: one in his fame-making pop genre and also a more surprising foray into the instrumental classical vein.

Composer David Michael Frank worked with Jackson back in 1989 on a TV special and two months ago received a call from the star's assistant about collaborating again. Frank, who recalls being impressed with Jackson's knowledge of classical music, says: "He had two demos of two pieces he'd written, but they weren't complete. For one of them, he had a whole section of it done in his head. He had not recorded it. He hummed it to me as I sat at the keyboard in his pool house and we figured out the chords."

Fast-forward to a few weeks ago, when Jackson checked in with Frank on his recordings and went on to brainstorm about a possible jazz track. Sadly, this rarely seen side of Jackson may never be made public.

"I guess this recording I made is the only copy that exists of this music," muses Frank. "I hope one day his family will decide to record this music as a tribute and show the world the depth of his artistry."

Another Jackson collaborator, keyboardist Greg Phillinganes, last spoke to Jackson in March and attempts to dispel rumors that the star was riddled with health problems around the time of his death.

"He still had a good voice and never had a problem singing," explains Phillinganes. "There were questions about him being able to pull off the tour on the choreography side, but sources working with him told me he was dancing all the time, every day, and was very focused, excited and committed to making this tour the best it could be."

Phillinganes goes on, insisting that Jackson fully lived up to his reputation as an incredible performer.

"It was the biggest comeback of his career, arguably the biggest comeback in pop music—even bigger than Elvis," the musician says. "He never did anything half-assed, which is what originally got him to the stature he had."

As expected, the ticket lottery for the Michael Jackson public memorial service has sparked a fan frenzy not unlike one of the pop icon's concerts.

Over 1.6 million people registered for the chance to receive one of the 17,500 free tickets that have been allotted for Tuesday's 10 a.m. service, according to Ken Sunshine, a Jackson family spokesman.

Fans had until 6 p.m. Saturday to apply online. With registration now over, AEG will initiate a thorough "scrubbing" of all entries to weed out any duplicates and those suspected of having been made by auto-entry programs or "go-bots," the type frequently utilized by ticket scalpers.

A computer program will then randomly select the winners, who will be notified between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. Sunday. Tickets will be divided between venues—with only 11,000 given for the service inside of the Staples Center and the remaining tickets allotted for the screening in the Nokia Theatre.

Los Angeles police and city officials have warned fans without tickets to stay home, since the screens outside the venues will not be used to broadcast the event. Organizers have also taken pains to stress the service is not a show but a public remembrance of the 50-year-old singer, who died suddenly June 25 of a suspected cardiac arrest.

As the city and Jackson family prepare for Tuesday's memorial service, E! News has confirmed that the Rev. Al Sharpton will be calling for a national day of mourning during his sermon at a Sunday morning church service in Los Angeles.

Although the music legend is being laid to rest, the investigation into his death meanwhile continues.

According to the Los Angeles Times, investigators are concentrating on at least five doctors who prescribed drugs to Jackson after the investigators confiscated prescription medications from his Holmby Hills mansion this week, one of which is Diprivan (aka Propofol), an anesthetic typically used in hospitals.

There has been much speculation that the drug, which is administered with an IV, and other prescriptions may have played a role in the King of Pop's death. Sources tell the Times that some of the drugs were prescribed to Jackson's pseudonyms, and others didn't have prescription labels at all.

Dr Tohme Tohme, spokesman to the King of Pop in his final months, gave his first-ever interview on Friday, describing himself as a "stranger to the music business", who only had Jackson's best interests in mind.

"I hate the words 'mystery man'", Tohme told the Associated Press. "I'm a private man. A lot of people like the media and I don't. I respect the privacy of other people but lately nobody respects mine."

Tohme has been the subject of controversy since emerging in 2008 as Jackson's "official and sole spokesperson". Allegedly a Lebanese financier and medical doctor (and an "ambassador at large" for the country of Senegal, according to his website), much has been claimed about Tohme and little confirmed. Tohme's partner in the TRW Advertising firm, Jim Weller, is supposedly "winner of the Cannes film festival [and] Venice film festival" (not to mention "former senior adviser to the president of the United States") despite not even having an IMDB entry.

Tohme says simply that he is a US citizen, raised in Los Angeles. "A self-made man," he explained, "in the world of finance."

"I don't want to talk about me," Tohme continued. "I'm a nobody. I'm not important. I want to talk about Michael Jackson."

Jermaine Jackson, Michael's brother, is the one who introduced the two of them. The goal was to save Jackson's Neverland ranch from foreclosure – something Tohme accomplished with the help of friends in high finance. Gradually Tohme took charge of all of the King of Pop's business affairs. "We had an agreement," Tohme said. "I would never interfere with [Michael's] creative decisions and he wouldn't interfere with my business decisions."

Tohme said his work for Jackson included negotiations for the O2 Arena gigs, a Thriller-related musical and TV show, a line of clothing including "moonwalk shoes", staffing changes and management of Jackson's considerable publishing assets – including rights to songs by the Beatles.

"I was trying to do what we could to maximise his profits and minimise spending," Tohme said. He claims he dropped all his other obligations to focus on Jackson's business, although he was not paid. "I saw how kind he was and what a wonderful human being. I saw him with his children and I had never seen a better father ... I decided to do what I could to help him."

Jackson kept fit, never ate red meat and didn't drink or take drugs, according to Tohme. He seemed in perfect health when they last spoke on 23 June. Two days later, Jackson was dead.

Tohme still hopes that Jackson will be laid to rest at Neverland. The singer had hoped to create a "special place 10 times bigger than Graceland", Tohme explained – a home for Jackson memorabilia and awards. But even if that dream has not yet been realised, "he deserves to be buried in the wonderful world he created".

Michael Jackson's memorial service will take place at Los Angeles's Staples Centre on Tuesday.

Michael Jackson's Doctors Served With Search Warrants

As part of their ongoing investigation into whether prescription drugs played a role in the death of Michael Jackson, the Los Angeles Police Department has executed at least three search warrants on different physicians over the past week. The Los Angeles Times, citing unnamed sources familiar with the investigation, reported that the warrants were an attempt to reconstruct the singer's medical history, a job complicated by the fact that Jackson was treated by a number of different physicians over the years.

At least five of those doctors who prescribed medication to Jackson are under investigation, and detectives from the LAPD's robbery-homicide division — who are assisting in the case due to its high-profile nature — executed searches over the past week. A spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Superior Court confirmed that a judge signed off on three searches but would not specify what detectives were looking for and whether or not they found it.

To date, police have confirmed that they removed some unnamed prescription drugs from Jackson's rented Beverly Hills-area home, and they emerged from a second search with two bags of medical evidence. Though a number of former friends, advisors and medical personnel have come forward since the singer's death to tell stories about his alleged struggles with addiction to prescription medicine, it has not yet been determined if prescription drugs played a role in his sudden death following cardiac arrest on June 25. Results of toxicology tests performed after the initial autopsy proved inconclusive and are expected to take several more weeks.

A spokesperson for the Drug Enforcement Administration confirmed last week that the federal agency has joined in the investigation into Jackson's death, and the Times, quoting an unnamed source, reported that "numerous bottles" of the powerful anesthetic Diprivan (also known as Propofol) — some full, some empty and none with prescription labels — were found at Jackson's home. The drug, used in doctors' offices for minor surgical procedures, is not available for prescription and, experts told MTV, is very dangerous if not administered by trained personnel in a clinical setting. A registered nurse who allegedly worked for Jackson has said that Jackson pleaded for Diprivan just days before his death in order to treat his chronic insomnia.

Edward Chernoff, a lawyer for cardiologist Dr. Conrad Murray, who was by Jackson's side the day he died, would not discuss with TMZ whether his client administered Diprivan to Jackson. Murray has not been named as a suspect in the case, but LAPD officers have interviewed him, and an unnamed source told the gossip site that the information Murray gave police regarding drugs at Jackson's home prompted officials to obtain a search warrant from a judge. The subsequent searches of the rented home turned up the Diprivan, and while Chernoff denied that his client gave Jackson the powerful painkillers Demerol and OxyContin before the singer's death, he reportedly told TMZ, "I have no statement on whether the Dr. prescribed or administered Propofol. ... We're confident whatever the doctor prescribed did not kill Michael Jackson."

A spokesperson for Chernoff told MTV News that, going forward, per an agreement reached with LAPD investigators, Murray (and Chernoff) are not allowed to discuss any medical issues related to Jackson with the press, including any medication the doctor may or may not have prescribed/ administered to the singer.

Al Sharpton Wants Michael Jackson Stamp, Media to Back Off

The Rev. Al Sharpton thinks Michael Jackson deserves to be honored commensurate with his star status. That means a postage stamp, a national day of mourning—and deferential treatment from the media.

In advance of Tuesday's memorial, Sharpton appeared Sunday as a guest speaker at Los Angeles' First AME church. He announced to parishioners that he would push for a commemorative Jackson stamp and a waiver of the U.S. Postal Service's five-year waiting period, postdeath. (The only exception so far has been for late presidents.)

Sharpton also took issue with how certain press outlets have covered Jackson's death, saying there was a "disrespectful double standard" between the "Thriller" singer and other fallen icons such as Frank Sinatra or Elvis Presley.

"I'm here because of the disgraceful and the despicable way [the media] is trying to destroy the legacy [of Jackson]," Sharpton said.

"You have had other entertainers that have had issues in their life; you [the media] did not degrade and denigrate them."

Sharpton called upon the media to show respect during the family's time of mourning. "Michael was no freak," he said. "He was a genius."

"We want love. That's what Michael Jackson sang about," the reverend added. "Let's talk about love. Let the media deal with the mess while we deal with the message."

As for Jackson's family, Sharpton said he had seen King of Pop's children earlier in the weekend and "they are fine."

And, he added, Tuesday's memorial will "celebrate Michael's life and will effect all nations, all nationalities and all religions."

When ABC wanted to make a miniseries about the Jackson family's life in 1992, Michael Jackson had one major requirement before he would give his blessing: Someone beautiful had to play his mother.

The superstar adored Katherine Jackson, who ended up being portrayed by Angela Bassett in the miniseries. Not only does Jackson's will designate her as the guardian of his three children, but she is the only person other than his kids to inherit a share of his fortune. Katherine Jackson has also sought to retain control of her son's estate, and was appointed the estate's administrator when no will was presented. Now, though, a will has been filed with two named executors. A hearing regarding the appointment of the executors as temporary administrators of the pop superstar's estate was scheduled for Monday.

Jackson had a fractious relationship at times with various family members and other confidants, but friends say Jackson saw his mother as the one flawless, angelic constant in his life.

A Jehovah's Witness, Katherine Jackson, 79, is universally described as a gentle, loving matriarch who has doted on her family and fought to keep them united through tough times.

Born Katherine Scruse, she was reared in Chicago and overcame polio as a child (she still walks with a slight limp). She married Joe Jackson at age 19, and they had 10 children (Marlon Jackson had a twin who died shortly after birth) in nearby Gary, Ind.

Katherine and Joe Jackson are still married and recently marked their 60th anniversary. But their relationship has long been difficult and they have not lived together for years, according to a close friend of the singer who did not want to be identified because the person was not authorized to discuss the family.

Though it was Joe Jackson who managed Michael Jackson and his brothers to early stardom, Michael credited his mother with giving him his vocal gifts. He described her as a pianist and singer in her own right who was the first to identify and encourage her children's musical talents.

"Every child thinks their mother is the greatest mother in the world, but we Jacksons never lost that feeling," Jackson wrote in "Moonwalk," his 1988 autobiography. "Because of Katherine's gentleness, warmth and attention, I can't imagine what it's like to grow up without a mother's love."

Michael Jackson's three children have not had their biological mothers in their lives. But people close to the Jacksons say Katherine Jackson has an incredibly close relationship with her grandchildren, perhaps more than anyone else in her late son's life.

"She was never out of favor (with Michael), so she was able to spend a lot more time with the kids than anybody else," said J. Randy Taraborrelli, a friend of Jackson and author of the biography "The Magic and the Madness."

Katherine Jackson was by her son's side through some of his greatest triumphs and tragedies, from his stunning "Thriller" success to his 2005 acquittal of child molestation charges.

"They just loved each other unconditionally," said Taraborrelli. "Even when he was illogical in some of his decisions ... she didn't care, she just defended him and supported him without reservation his entire life."

Michael Jackson lived with his mother, along with siblings Joe, Janet and LaToya, at the family's Encino, Calif., compound until he was almost 30. After he moved to his vast Neverland estate, his mother remained part of his inner circle.

L. Londell McMillan, who is part of the legal team representing Katherine Jackson in her bid to control Jackson's estate, said Jackson trusted his mother completely and wanted to make sure she was always well provided.

"Michael would often say to those of us in his life, 'Please make sure you help me to protect and take care of my children and my mother Katherine,'" McMillan said.

Rob Goldstone, a former Jackson publicist who spent time on the road with him during his 1989 "Bad" tour, described him as "a momma's boy. He loved his mom."

"The one thing that was very apparent that everywhere we went, he would want to go shopping and buy something, and his mom was the one he wanted to buy something special for," he recalled.

Jackson's relationship with his mother was the opposite of what he had with his father, who managed Michael and his children's careers until they reached adulthood and business ties were severed.

Michael Jackson had a complicated relationship with Joe Jackson. He had described his father as physically and emotionally abusive. Even the sight of Joe Jackson would sometimes make Michael so nervous he would vomit, the son had said.

Joe Jackson was the parental figure who spent the most time with Jackson during his formative years. Katherine Jackson didn't go out on the road with the Jackson 5, staying at home to raise LaToya, Janet and Randy.

But the mild-mannered mother would stand up to her husband and defend their children when she thought things were getting out of control, Taraborrelli said.

"She's very strong, and a very powerful woman who would stand up to Joe," he said. "That's the only reason why it worked. ... She had the tenacity to defy him when it really mattered."

Though the pair do not live together, their lives are still intertwined. Ten years ago, they filed for bankruptcy, listing nearly $24 million in debts that included court judgments, auto loans and credit cards. Court records show the only valuable asset listed was a house in Las Vegas then valued at $290,000.

Now that Katherine Jackson has been granted temporary guardianship of her grandchildren, some wonder what influence Joe Jackson might play in the grandchildren's lives. A person with knowledge of the situation, who asked not to be identified because the person was not authorized to talk about the relationship, said the children have a loving relationship with their grandfather, but said that Katherine Jackson would be their primary caregiver.

The Rev. Jesse Jackson said she has already assumed that role, shopping for clothes for her grandchildren over the weekend.

"She's doing very well," he said Sunday. "She is the matriarch of this family. She is so deep in her religion. She has a real insulation, not an isolation, kind of a spiritual, so she sees her family in the broader sense and all of them kind of gravitating a certain way to mom as they were."

New York Congressman Blasts Jackson as 'Pervert, Low-Life'

A New York congressman says Michael Jackson was a "pervert" and calls on society to stop "glorifying" the late entertainer in a YouTube video.

Rep. Peter King said Jackson -- whom he called a "low-life" -- is being glorified in the days after his death while society ignores the efforts, of teachers, police officers, firefighters and veterans. In the two-minute video, King claims the "day in and day out" coverage of Jackson's death is "too politically correct."

"Let's knock out the psychobabble," King said in the video taped outside an American Legion Hall on New York's Long Island. "He was a pervert, a child molester; he was a pedophile. And to be giving this much coverage to him, day in and day out, what does it say about us as a country? I just think we're too politically correct."

King, a Republican who is among the possible contenders for the seat held by Democratic Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, said Jackson "may have been a good singer" and "did some dancing," but blasted the singer as someone who could not be trusted around children.

"There's nothing good to say about this guy," King continued. "But the bottom line is, would you let your child or grandchild be in the same room as Michael Jackson?"

Calls placed to King early Monday were not immediately returned.

Jackson family spokesman Ken Sunshine says the family is preparing for Jackson's funeral and will not dignify King's statement with a comment.

In 2005, Jackson was acquitted of molesting a boy who spent time at his Neverland ranch and appeared with him in the 2003 British documentary, "Living With Michael Jackson." The entertainer had been accused of plying the boy with alcohol and groping him.

Earlier, in 1993, Jackson was accused of molesting a boy who often stayed at his home. The singer denied any wrongdoing, reached a settlement with the boy's family -- reported to be $20 million -- and criminal charges were never filed.

Stacy Brown, co-author of "Michael Jackson: The Man Behind the Mask," said King's comments were "irresponsible and insensitive" despite the fact he too thought Jackson had molested children.

"I'm not surprised that someone would feel that way," Brown told FOXNews.com. "I'm surprised that you would get a public official to say that. Let's face it, I'm not one to believe that Michael was innocent of molesting children, but he was never convicted. If he was convicted of those crimes, then hey, I'd have to agree with him."

Brown said the molestation allegations against Jackson were "devastating," professionally and personally.

"In hindsight, it was the beginning of the end of his life because I don't think he ever recovered," he said. "This was a guy who spent most of his life protecting his privacy and that was shattered, obliterated during the trial [in 2005]. He was undressed during that trial."

Jackson had partially "recovered" from allegations of molestation during the 1990s, Brown said, in part due to his marriage to Lisa Marie Presley and the birth of his children. Still, some previous fans of Jackson had grown tired of the controversy surrounding the singer.

"He lost a lot of his adult audience, people who grew weary of the weirdness," Brown said. "But he reached far and wide and was able to sell 750,000 tickets for this comeback tour. Americans particularly and the world in general loves a comeback story."

Brown continued, "There was no one else like Michael Jackson. He was Elvis, the Rolling Stones, Sinatra and the Bealtes all rolled into one."

Hilary Duff set to join 'Gossip Girl' for multi-episode arc

Hilary Duff is joining the world of "Gossip Girl" for a multi-episode arc in the fall.

Duff, who as a child was a giant hit on Disney's "Lizzie McGuire," and who last season reemerged with parts on "The Ghost Whisperer" and "Law & Order: SVU," will play a movie star who enrolls at NYU, according to Entertainment Weekly.

The story will make Duff's character a roommate of Vanessa (Jessica Szohr). EOnline said Duff's character will be pursued by Dan (Penn Badgley). She will appear in the show's fourth episode this fall.

Jackson had two albums in works

Michael Jackson had two albums in the works at the time of his death, Billboard reported Thursday.

The singer was reportedly crafting a pop album with songwriter Claude Kelly and Akon as well as a collection of classical compositions.

“He was the 'King of Pop,' the biggest to ever do it, and the one thing you never lose -- whether known by the whole world or just 10 people -- is your love for music,” Kelly told the music trade mag. “That never goes away, and it never went away for him amidst his troubles.”

Akon added that Jackson’s upcoming sold-out “This Is It” shows in London had been an inspiration, as well.

“He said, ‘My fans are still there. They still love me. They’re alive,’” Akon said. “His kids are like his first priority, and they had never seen him perform live. He was trying to create the most incredible show for his kids.”

Billboard also reported that Jackson was working on an instrumental album, collaborating with composer David Michael Frank, who had previously worked with the singer on a 1989 TV tribute to Sammy Davis Jr.

“He had two demos of two pieces he’d written, but they weren’t complete,” Frank said. “For one of them, he had a whole section of it done in his head. He had not recorded it. He hummed it to me as I sat at the keyboard in his pool house and we figured out the chords -- I guess this recording I made is the only copy that exists of this music.”

And Jackson had more compositions in the works, including a jazz track.

“He mentioned more instrumental music of his he wanted to record, including one jazz piece,” Frank noted, adding that Jackson had called him to check in on the project several weeks ago. “I hope one day his family will decide to record this music as a tribute and show the world the depth of his artistry.”

This wasn’t the only music Jackson had in the works. When Access Hollywood visited Jackson for his last on-camera interview in Ireland in 2006, he was joined by Will.i.am, who himself was also collaborating with Jackson on new songs.

The Black Eyed Peas frontman told BBC News earlier this week that Jackson had held onto the recordings.

“He had all the hard drives because I didn’t want to be responsible for that,” Will.i.am said. “It’s one thing to lose a Black Eyed Peas hard drive. I move around a lot and to make songs with Michael Jackson and risk me losing that music, I didn’t want that responsibility. So he kept all the stuff that we worked on.”

Jackson memorial planned for Tuesday at Staples Center

Staples Center will be the site of a public memorial service on Tuesday for Michael Jackson, a publicist for the Jackson family said Thursday, but it is unclear who will pay for the massive law enforcement deployment necessary for the event.

Ken Sunshine, a Jackson family representative, said the service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the downtown arena, site of the singer's final rehearsal.

Further details will be announced at a news conference Friday morning, including how people may register for the 11,000 tickets that will be distributed to the public. All tickets to the event will be free, according to a news release from Sunshine's firm.

Earlier in the day, Sunshine had asked for the public's patience as the family sorted through details of the service. "There's a lot of sensitivities, and everyone should respect that," Sunshine said.

Randy Phillips, chief executive of AEG Live, the promoter of the 50 Jackson concerts that had been planned for London, said the ultimate decision about the date and format of a memorial lay with Jackson's mother, Katherine.

But even before plans had been finalized Thursday, city leaders were raising questions about who would pay for the city resources needed to pull off a memorial to the singer. The law enforcement deployment would involve thousands of officers -- more than were present for last month's Lakers victory parade, according to sources familiar with the planning, who were not authorized to speak publicly.

City officials debated whether taxpayers should pay all or part of the $2-million cost of the Lakers' parade from Staples Center to the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.

Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and various business leaders, mindful that the city was weighing layoffs and furloughs, raised enough money privately to pay that tab.

City officials are unclear on just how large the turnout might be for Jackson's memorial service -- or whether it would spill into nearby L.A. Live or surrounding parking lots.

"There's no precedent for this," said Councilwoman Jan Perry, who represents downtown and is serving as acting mayor because Villaraigosa is on vacation in Africa and City Council President Eric Garcetti is in Japan.

Councilman Dennis Zine said he was concerned about whether the LAPD would have time to plan for an event of that scale, particularly since many officers will also be working overtime during the Fourth of July weekend.

"You don't have a lot of time to work up a tactical plan and notify the officers," Zine said.

Also Thursday, an attorney for Debbie Rowe, the mother of Michael Jackson's two elder children, said she had not decided whether to seek custody, despite telling a television reporter that was her intention.

Eric George, Rowe's lawyer, did not dispute that Rowe told an NBC-TV Channel 4 reporter by telephone that she wanted custody of Prince Michael Jr., 12, and Paris Michael Katherine, 11, the children she bore when she was married to Jackson.

But her lawyer said it would be a "distortion of the truth" to interpret Rowe's comments to the television reporter as her final decision in the custody case.

He described the custody proceedings as "the most private and the most sensitive of matters as they impact the lives and fates of young children."

As the biological parent, Rowe, 50, would be in line to obtain the children unless a judge determined that would not be in their best interests. Rowe appears to have had little contact with the children over the years, though she does have visitation rights.

Katherine Jackson has temporary custody of the children. A custody hearing scheduled for Monday has been postponed until July 13 at the request of attorneys for Katherine Jackson and Rowe.

Yet after selling more than 61 million albums in the U.S. and having a decade-long attraction open at Disney theme parks, the "King of Pop" died Thursday at age 50 reportedly awash in about $400 million in debt, on the cusp of a final comeback after well over a decade of scandal.

The moonwalking pop star drove the growth of music videos, vaulting cable channel MTV into the popular mainstream after its launch in 1981. His 1982 hit "Thriller," still the second best-selling U.S. album of all time with 28 million copies, spawned a John Landis-directed music video that MTV played every hour on the hour.

"The ratings were three or four times what they were normally every time the video came on," said Judy McGrath, the chairman and CEO of Viacom Inc.'s MTV Networks. "He was inextricably tied to the so-called MTV generation."

Five years later, "Bad" sold 22 million copies. In 1991, he signed a $65 million recording deal with Sony.

Jackson was so popular that The Walt Disney Co. hitched its wagon to his star in 1986, opening a 3-D movie at its parks called "Captain EO," executive produced by George Lucas and directed by Francis Ford Coppola. The last attraction in Paris closed 12 years later.

One of Jackson's shrewdest deals at the height of his fame in 1985 was the $47.5 million acquisition of ATV Music, which owned the copyright to songs written by the Beatles' John Lennon and Paul McCartney. The catalog provided Jackson a steady stream of income and the ability to afford a lavish lifestyle.

He bought the sprawling Neverland ranch in 1988 for $14.6 million, a fantasy-like 2,500-acre property nestled in the hills of Santa Barbara County's wine country.

But the bombshell hit in 1993 when he was accused of molesting 13-year-old Jordan Chandler.

"That kind of represents the beginning of the walk down a tragic path, financially, emotionally, spiritually, psychologically, legally," said Michael Levine, his publicist at the time.

He settled with the boy's family, but other accounts of his alleged pedophilia began to emerge.

When he ran into further financial problems, he agreed to a deal with Sony in 1995 to merge ATV with Sony's library of songs and sold Sony music publishing rights for $95 million. Then in 2001, he used his half of the ATV assets as collateral to secure $200 million in loans from Bank of America.

As his financial problems continued, Jackson began to borrow large sums of money, according to a 2002 lawsuit by Union Finance & Investment Corp. that sought $12 million in unpaid fees and expenses.

In 2003, Jackson was arrested on charges that he molested another 13-year-old boy. The 2005 trial, which ultimately ended in an acquittal, brought to light more details of Jackson's strained finances.

One forensic accountant testified that the singer had an "ongoing cash crisis" and was spending $20 million to $30 million more per year than he earned.

In March of last year, the singer faced foreclosure on Neverland. He also repeatedly failed to make mortgage payments on a house in Los Angeles that had been used for years by his family.

In addition, Jackson was forced to defend himself against a slew of lawsuits in recent years, including a $7 million claim from Sheik Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the second son of the king of Bahrain.

Memorabilia auctions were frequently announced but became the subject of legal wrangling and were often canceled.

Time and again, however, Jackson found a way to wring cash out of high-value assets, borrowing tens of millions at a time or leaning on wealthy friends for advice, if not for money.

Al Khalifa, 33, took Jackson under his wing after his acquittal, moving him to the small Gulf estate and showering him with money.

In his lawsuit, Al Khalifa claimed he gave Jackson millions of dollars to help shore up his finances, cut an album, write an autobiography and subsidize his lifestyle - including more than $300,000 for a "motivational guru." The lawsuit was settled last year for an undisclosed amount. Neither the album nor book was ever produced.

Another wealthy benefactor came to Jackson's aid last year as he faced the prospect of losing Neverland in a public auction.

Billionaire Thomas Barrack, chairman and CEO of Los Angeles-based real estate investment firm Colony Capital LLC, agreed to bail out the singer and set up a joint venture with Jackson that took ownership of the vast estate.

Barrack was unavailable for comment Thursday, but referred to the singer in a statement as a "gentle, talented and compassionate man."

A final piece of the financial jigsaw puzzle fell into place in March, when billionaire Philip Anschutz' concert promotion company AEG Live announced it would promote 50 shows in London's O2 arena. Tickets sold out, and the first show of the "This is It" tour was set for July 8.

Jackson, who won 13 Grammys, hadn't toured since 1997. His last studio album, "Invincible," was released in 2001.

But the opening date was later postponed to July 13 and some shows moved back to March 2010, fueling speculation that Jackson was suffering from health ailments that could curtail his comeback bid.

His death, caused by cardiac arrest according to his brother Jermaine, raised the question whether an insurer would refund money to ticketholders. AEG Live did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Jackson was practicing for the concert in Los Angeles at the Staples Center with Kenny Ortega, a choreographer and director of the "High School Musical" movies, who has worked on previous Jackson videos like "Dangerous" in 1993.

"We had a 25-year friendship. This is all too much to comprehend," Ortega said in a statement. "This was the world's greatest performer and the world will miss him."

Throughout a career equal parts charisma and chaos, Michael Jackson still somehow managed to heal the world.

"Weird Al" Yankovic wouldn't be "Weird Al" without those infectious Jackson parodies, like "Fat" and "Eat It." Tonight Yankovic tweets: "Oh man. Can't believe it. RIP Michael Jackson."

Another contemporary musician -- ?uestlove of The Roots -- posts on his Twitter account: "Elvis got revisionist media treatment. I expect the friggin same for my hero."

The media certainly never encountered a more intriguing icon-meets-spectacle personality. He was the original M.J. He was his own reality show. And he was only 50.

"He was a positive thinker," remembers Bruce Swedien, Jackson's recording engineer on every album since Off The Wall.

Reached at his Florida home tonight, the 75-year-old Swedien describes Jackson as "a joy to work with...totally prepared, always." During recording sessions Jackson would come to the studio with the music already memorized, Swedien says.

The men met in 1978 during the filming of The Wiz, an African-American adaptation of The Wizard of Oz, which features Jackson as the Scarecrow. The Off The Wall album would soon follow, and by 1982 Thriller would set the musical masterpiece bar to an all-time high.

Thriller isn't just the best-selling album; Thriller may well be the best album ever made.

Swedien couldn't predict the impact the record continues to inflict on the world. On Thriller's success, he remarks, "You can't go into it with that in mind. What comes out is what comes out."

The year 2001 would represent each man's final venture in music-making; the ironically-titled Invincible arrived post-9/11. The engineer claims Jackson had "no firm plans" to make another album when the two spoke last year.

"Michael kept things pretty close to his chest," Swedien recalls.

While recording the Bad album in 1987, Jackson struggled with his vocal on a song that demanded a higher key. He couldn't sing it. So he walked out of the studio.

Swedien found Jackson in the corner of his room, sobbing.

"He was totally upset that he couldn't perform it," Swedien says.

The men decided to take it down a key. And then the song sounded just right:

If you wanna make the world a better place, take a look at yourself, and then make a change.

"'Man In The Mirror,'" Swedien sighs. The single would hit number one in early 1988.

Tonight Jackson's musical partner and friend of 30 years chooses to remember that -- in spite of the controversy, the disgrace and the stigma -- Michael Jackson lived up to his loving lyrics.

"If you could think of the best possible situation, that was working with Michael."

A crowd of about 75 people gathered in front of a Michael Jackson star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame this afternoon, but it was actually the wrong star--this one was for the former KABC radio personality of the same name.

Jackson's real star near the front of Grauman’s Chinese Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard was covered by scaffolding in preparation for the "Bruno" movie premiere so fans gathered at the other Michael Jackson star to light candles and place purple flowers.

Helene Kress, 43, of Los Angeles described the time her daughter auditioned for a Disney dance troupe to Jackson’s “Rock With You.”

“She got the job because of that,” Kress said, choking back tears. “He was so positive, how could you not love him? There’s never going to be another Michael Jackson.”

Kress said she learned of Jackson's death while her daughter, Cheyenne Haynes, 13, was at an audition and did not tell her until after they left.

“I didn’t want her to know because I didn’t want her to get upset,” Kress said.

Afterward, they headed for the radio personality's star to join a prayer circle and sing “We Are The World.”

“He’s still here. He isn’t going anywhere,” Cheyenne said as she cried.

At the star for “The Jacksons” someone had scrawled “5” on top of the “S.” A helicopter hovered overhead and people gathered on patios nearby, snapping photos. LAPD officers directed passersby to join the circle or keep moving.

Pop star Michael Jackson has died at age 50 after suffering a cardiac arrest, according to media reports.

Los Angeles TV station KTLA reports that Los Angeles fire officials said they responded to a 911 call at Jackson's home and that Jackson wasn't breathing when they arrived; paramedics performed CPR and rushed him to UCLA Medical Center, although the hospital, due to privacy rules, could not confirm that.

In a cardiac arrest, the heart stops working properly. A cardiac arrest is not the same as a heart attack, but it can happen because of a heart attack, notes Douglas Zipes, MD, MACC, distinguished professor at Indiana University School of Medicine and past president of the American College of Cardiology.

Zipes explains that "cardiac arrest is a heart rhythm disturbance when the bottom chamber of the heart, the ventricles, beat an at extremely rapid rate -- 4 to 600 times a minute."

Zipes says that heart rhythm "prevents that bottom chamber from effective contraction and pumping blood to the brain and to the rest of the body, and death results if it's not reversed within four or five minutes, generally."

According to Zipes, when that heart rhythm disturbance, which is called ventricular fibrillation, happens, the bottom chambers of the heart are "like a bag of squiggly worms without an effective squeeze, and no blood gets pumped to the rest of the body, and without the necessary oxygen in the blood vessels going to the brain, and so on, the brain then begins to die."

CPR can help keep blood flowing, but it would take an electrical shock to the heart -- either from electrical paddles called defibrillators or from an internal heart device -- to shock the heart back to a normal rhythm.

"Some sort of blood flow has to be initiated, whether it's with CPR or with the shock that terminates the fibrillation and restores an effective contraction," says Zipes.

Zipes notes that in 30% to 50% of cardiac arrests, "that event is the first manifestation of underlying heart disease. So you may not have chest pain, you may not have shortness of breath, you may not have anything" as a warning sign.

Just over a year ago, NBC journalist Tim Russert died after a cardiac arrest. Russert was being treated for his heart disease risk factors; Jackson's previous heart health hasn't been made public.

Jackson died at UCLA Medical Center after being stricken at his rented home in Holmby Hills. Paramedics tried to resuscitate him at his home for nearly three-quarters of an hour, then rushed him to the hospital, where doctors continued to work on him.

"It is believed he suffered cardiac arrest in his home. However, the cause of his death is unknown until results of the autopsy are known," his brother Jermaine said. Police said they were investigating, standard procedure in high-profile cases.

Jackson's death brought a tragic end to a long, bizarre, sometimes farcical decline from his peak in the 1980s, when he was popular music's premier all-around performer, a uniter of black and white music who shattered the race barrier on MTV, dominated the charts and dazzled even more on stage.

His 1982 album "Thriller" which included the blockbuster hits "Beat It," "Billie Jean" and "Thriller" is the best-selling album of all time, with an estimated 50 million copies sold worldwide.

At the time of his death, Jackson was rehearsing hard for what was to be his greatest comeback: He was scheduled for an unprecedented 50 shows at a London arena, with the first set for July 13.

As word of his death spread, MTV switched its programming to play videos from Jackson's heyday. Radio stations began playing marathons of his hits. Hundreds of people gathered outside the hospital. In New York's Times Square, a low groan went up in the crowd when a screen flashed that Jackson had died, and people began relaying the news to friends by cell phone.

"No joke. King of Pop is no more. Wow," Michael Harris, 36, of New York City, read from a text message a friend had sent him. "It's like when Kennedy was assassinated. I will always remember being in Times Square when Michael Jackson died."

The public first knew him as a boy in the late 1960s, when he was the precocious, spinning lead singer of the Jackson 5, the singing group he formed with his four older brothers out of Gary, Ind. Among their No. 1 hits were "I Want You Back," "ABC" and "I'll Be There."

He was perhaps the most exciting performer of his generation, known for his backward-gliding moonwalk, his feverish, crotch-grabbing dance moves and his high-pitched singing, punctuated with squeals and titters. His single sequined glove, tight, military-style jacket and aviator sunglasses were trademarks, as was his ever-changing, surgically altered appearance.

"For Michael to be taken away from us so suddenly at such a young age, I just don't have the words," said Quincy Jones, who produced "Thriller." "He was the consummate entertainer and his contributions and legacy will be felt upon the world forever. I've lost my little brother today, and part of my soul has gone with him."

Jackson ranked alongside Elvis Presley and the Beatles as the biggest pop sensations of all time. He united two of music's biggest names when he was briefly married to Presley's daughter, Lisa Marie, and Jackson's death immediately evoked comparisons to that of Presley himself, who died at age 42 in 1977.

As years went by, Jackson became an increasingly freakish figure a middle-aged man-child weirdly out of touch with grown-up life. His skin became lighter, his nose narrower, and he spoke in a breathy, girlish voice. He often wore a germ mask while traveling, kept a pet chimpanzee named Bubbles as one of his closest companions, and surrounded himself with children at his Neverland ranch, a storybook playland filled with toys, rides and animals. The tabloids dubbed him "Wacko Jacko."

"It seemed to me that his internal essence was at war with the norms of the world. It's as if he was trying to defy gravity," said Michael Levine, a Hollywood publicist who represented Jackson in the early 1990s. He called Jackson a "disciple of P.T. Barnum" and said the star appeared fragile at the time but was "much more cunning and shrewd about the industry than anyone knew."

Jackson caused a furor in 2002 when he playfully dangled his infant son, Prince Michael II, over a hotel balcony in Berlin while a throng of fans watched from below.

In 2005, he was cleared of charges he molested a 13-year-old cancer survivor at Neverland in 2003. He had been accused of plying the boy with alcohol and groping him, and of engaging in strange and inappropriate behavior with other children.

The case followed years of rumors about Jackson and young boys. In a TV documentary, he acknowledged sharing his bed with children, a practice he described as sweet and not at all sexual.

Despite the acquittal, the lurid allegations that came out in court took a fearsome toll on his career and image, and he fell into serious financial trouble.

Billboard magazine editorial director Bill Werde said Jackson's star power was unmatched. "The world just lost the biggest pop star in history, no matter how you cut it," Werde said. "He's literally the king of pop."

Jackson's 13 No. 1 one hits on the Billboard charts put him behind only Presley, the Beatles and Mariah Carey, Werde said.

Audrina Patridge is once again with that ass Justin-Bobby, having dated Shannon Leto, Brian Drolet, Tal Cooperman, Corey Bohan and who knows how many other dudes.

She has two sisters, Samantha and Casey Patridge. Casey just had a baby with her fiance and has many tattoos!

In March 2008, Audrina became the subject of scandal when naked pics of her were leaked online (as we mentioned earlier). She admitted that they were, in fact, Audrina Patridge nude photos and that she had tried out for Playboy at age 19. Sure. We bet they were "leaked" accidentally. Mmm hmm.

They were hot, though, that's for damn sure.

The Duke of Essex Polo Trophy will see British and Argentinean teams competing against each other in the grounds of the Gaynes Park Estate, near Epping.

Keen horsewoman Price will officially start the match, present the trophy to the winning side and take part in a charity fashion show during the day-long event, which takes place on 4 July.

The tournament will benefit the charity Vision, which helps blind children and those with visual impairment or dyslexia.

The event is intended to appeal to a wide audience, including those without specialist knowledge of the sport.

Last month Price announced her separation from her husband of three-and-a-half years, Peter Andre, with whom she has two children.

Paying a visit to the nation’s capital, Gwen Stefani took time out of her busy tour schedule to take sons Kingston and Zuma out sightseeing in Washington DC on Monday (June 15).

Included in the group’s morning outing was a tour of the White House, of which the whole family seemed quite excited to visit the Obama household.

As for trying to juggle her No Doubt tour and motherhood, Stefani told Elle magazine, “Maybe once I sleep through the night, I’ll be able to write a song. That’s where I’m at.”

“Now I’m a wife and a mother of two. It’s a really different role,” she adds. “My priorities are always going to be my husband and my family now. That’s a huge, huge thing.”

It’s nice to see Miss Lloyd out and about again after an altercation in a London nightclub a few weeks ago where she thought she was going to die.

The 25-year-old says of the incident, “I could feel myself slipping away. I really thought I was going to die. I was lying in a pool of my own blood, just screaming over and over: ‘I’m going to die! I’m going to die!’”

Police arrested two women on suspicion of grievous bodily harm on the night of the incident.
